The culture of Romania is rich and varied.

Like Romanians themselves, it is fundamentally defined as the meeting point of three regions: Central Europe, Eastern Europe, and the Balkans, but cannot be fully included in any of them. During late Antiquity and the Middle Ages, the major influences came from the Slavic peoples who migrated and settled in nearby Bulgaria, Serbia, Ukraine and eventually Poland and Russia; from medieval Greeks and the Byzantine Empire; from a long domination by the Ottoman Empire; from the Hungarians, and from the Germans living in Transylvania. Modern Romanian culture emerged and developed over roughly the last 250 years under a strong influence from Western culture, particularly French and German culture.

Closing date for the fund

The closing date for the offer period of the fund was intended to be the 21st December 2007; the actual closing date for the raise period was the 11th January 2008.

This was due to the fact that we had several investors who wanted to enter the fund but couldn’t access their money before or over the Christmas period. After discussions with Fortis we decided it would be beneficial to the fund as a whole to extend the raise period by a few weeks.

This will mean that the fund’s anticipated winding up period will be in early 2011 and not late 2010 as previously thought.

Total raised

The total amount raised by the fund as of 11th January 2008 was €7m.
